Holden Commits $480M To Engineer All-New Commodore

	The all-new Holden 2006 VE Commodore is Holden’s largest ever engineering program with $480 million invested to deliver ambitious targets for design, performance and quality. The largest single aspect of Australia’s first $1 billion car program, Holden’s engineering development work for the new range spans back to the late 1990s. The program features several Australian and Holden firsts and delivers more of the characteristics which helped make Commodore the best-selling car in Australia for the past decade.

New Six-Speed Automatic Transmission For V8 Commodores

	General Motors’ flagship electronically controlled six-speed automatic transmission will be offered in all V8 variants of the all-new VE Commodore range. The acclaimed 6L80E transmission will be available for the first time in a car manufactured outside North America and is the first six-speed transmission offered on a locally produced Holden. The new transmission headlines a range of three automatics and two manuals in which every version has been replaced, upgraded or substantially recalibrated for the 2006 models.

Holden VE Commodore - Fuel Ecomony Figures

	GM Holden today released fuel economy figures for its all-new VE Commodore range, reporting reductions in most powertrain combinations compared with previous generation cars. The volume base model, Omega, is 10.9 litres per 100 kilometres compared with 11.0L/100km for the closest VZ equivalent, the Executive. Reductions have also been achieved on VE Berlina V6, SV6 manual and automatic, Calais V6 and manual variants of SS and SS V models.
