The $1.5 million FJ2005-10-14
The $1.5 million FJHolden has produced its wildest concept car ever: a hot-rod version of the famous 1953 FJ, with more power than a V8 Supercar. Holden has surprised the media and public at each Sydney motor show since it unveiled the Commodore coupe in 1998. Unlike that car and the many concepts that followed, this vehicle - called the Efijy - is not destined for production.

Holden's hot hatch and Territory beaterHolden's outrageous Efigy concept coupe may have stolen the limelight at the Sydney motor show with its 1930s custom rod looks and supercharged 6.0-litre V8 engine, but the S3X concept SUV is easily the most significant reveal for the local GM subsidiary. Monaro makes a getaway 2005-09-07
Monaro makes a getaway It's 1964, and a rangy young bloke by the name of John Crennan is driving an Aston Martin DB5 from its owner's men's wear shop in Balwyn to Holden's styling studio at Fishermans Bend. Unknown to the 20-year-old, he is playing a small role in the creation of a legend. In his position as a cadet in Holden's sales analysis department, a megalopolis that in those days covered everything from product planning to market research, the eager young Mr Crennan has been given the job of collecting five or six different coupe offerings for a highpowered directors' review to be conducted by then styling chief Joe Schemansky.

As Drive reported in November, it's likely that the Monaro will be built in the US from 2007 and other Commodore variants, such as the ute, may follow.

Hands off our Monaro!2004-11-26
Hands off our Monaro!Holden is on the verge of losing assembly of the Monaro to the US. The new model, due in 2007, is expected to be built in one of several under-used General Motors factories in America. If assembly of the Monaro is moved from Australia it will be a cruel blow for the coupe that was built after visitors to the 1998 Sydney motor show lobbied Holden to bring the car to life.
