| Rumours | | | Extra power for V6 - Rumour | 2006-02-28 | | Ok, not strictly a rumour, more like a wish list from current and future owners. Will there be a turbo, twin turbo of supercharged version of the Alloytec V6 when the VE is released in the second half of this year? Many people believe that there will be some form of forced induction V6, even if not the the VE is initially launched. Its also tipped that Holden could reduce the Alloytec range, dropping the lower powered version and retaiing the current Alloytec 190. V6 Holden owners have been holding out for a high performance V6 option ever since the Supercharged V6 was dropped. | | Source: Various |
| | HSV LS7 Coupe - Rumour | 2006-01-11 | | In the last couple of days this rumour has appeared on several forums. The rumour is that as a last hurrah for the Monaro/Coupe, HSV will be producing a very limited edition model. The, as yet unnamed, coupe will be powered by the 375kw LS7 7 Litle V8, will only be available in Red with Black trim...and there will be only 50 built. The price would be around $125K, with production beginning in August, for delivery as soon as September. | | Source: Pickles/LS1.com.au and others |
| | Possible Addition to VE Colour Palette - Rumour | 2005-12-23 | | Check this out, a purple CV8-Z, brand spanking new, just sitting there waiting to be photographed. And thats exactly what LS1.com.au member Smitty did, you can see more shots in the gallery. Since these pics appeared on LS1 that has been much discussion about what it is and what does it mean. First it was suggested that it was a Cadbury company car, but this colour is quite different to the Cadbury car colour - this is slightly lighter and it is metallic. It is completely different to the other purple's that have been available on the coupe - including Cosmo, Purple Haze and Ultra Violet (exclusive to HSV) - again it is a much lighter shade that any of these. A keen eye spotted that although this is a CV8-Z there is no sunroof - the sunroof is stanard kit on the CV8-Z. It was later spotted that there is a Holden sticker identifying it as a Holden company car. The colour name 'Morphous' was dropped by one member, but has not been mentioned again. This is quite possibly a test car, done to gauge public reaction to the colour, with a view to possibly releasing it with the VE range. | | Last Updated: 2005-12-23 13:03:00 | Source: Smitty / LS1.com.au |
| | L76 6.0L V8 for SS Commodore - Confirmed | 2005-11-19 | | As of the first of January the current LS1 V8 will no longer comply with the new emissions standards. What does this mean for the V8 Commodore derivatives, well it means there needs to be a change. The possibility of a simple emissions compliant upgrade to the existing powerplant was ruled out months ago, with that speculation grew rapdily as to what the new engine would be. The LS2 which debuted in the HSV Z-series has also been ruled out, and is to be kept exclusive to HSV's range. Now the latest news is that another Gen 4 derivative the L76 will find its way under the hood of the humble Commodore as early as December this year. It is said to be a 6.0L engine capable of producing 264kw, which would put back in front of Ford's BOSS 260 V8. | | Last Updated: 2006-06-27 06:19:47 | Source: Drive.com.au / LS1.com.au |
| | Diesel Commdore? - Rumour | 2005-10-21 | | Yes, thats right, there is a strong chance that a diesel derivative of the VE will be released with Series 2 in early 2008. Holden are currently exploring a number of options for a V6 Diesel, but no mention yet of a V8 option. It has been mentioned that if a diesel engine was to be introduced it would be first made available on the light-commercial range, ute, crewman and one-tonner, before being fully considered for the rest of the Commodore family. | | Last Updated: 2005-12-10 19:48:53 | Source: Dean Robinson |
| | VE Monaro held back until 2008 at earliest - Rumour | 2005-10-21 | | It is rumour that, due to the Zeta being placed on the backburner in the US, the plans for a VE-based Monaro have temporarily been put on hold. Although, you could almost bet that it will return eventually, as Holden have said publically that the Monaro is a very important model to them. | | Last Updated: 2005-12-10 19:46:42 | Source: Dean Robinson |
